Guidelines for Blog Authors


 

General

  • We request that the blog post be submitted in the form of a Word document!
    Gender-neutral language: Please ensure that you use gender-neutral writing!
  • For our blog design (except for Ars Iuris Memories), we use profile pictures of the blog authors. Generally, the profile pictures provided to us during the application process will be used.
    If a different, more current photo is to be used, it must be submitted to us prior to publication.

Structure of the Ars Iuris Blog

 

The blog entry currently consists of three following subsections:
  • Humans of Ars Iuris (Introduction of our fellows, insights into the legal field, international research stays, conference visits, invitations to partner universities, projects of our fellows)
  • Ars Iuris Memories (Reflections on Ars Iuris events from the perspective of our fellows)
  • Ars Iuris Academia (Contributions on current research focuses, research projects, papers, publications, dissertation topics

Humans of Ars Iuris

  • Extent: A complete blog post includes the post itself, a title, and, if possible, one or more images:

    • Title length: max ~ 80 characters including spaces (but preferably shorter)
    • Length of the blog post: 1,500 - 10,000 characters, ideally 1-2 pages
      (The length of the texts may vary from topic to topic; complex topics naturally require more text, even though a blog entry should generally be concise.)

    Language: Blog posts in this category should primarily invite reading and be highly informative.

    Citing: For posts that require citations: source references in the form of footnotes, with a consistent format being preferred.

 

Ars Iuris Memories

  • Extent: A complete blog post includes the post itself, a title, and, if possible, several images plus a main image that can be used for our blog design:

    • Title length: max ~ 80 characters including spaces (but preferably shorter)
    • Length of the blog post: 1,500 - 10,000 characters, ideally 1-2 pages
      (The length of the texts may, of course, vary from topic to topic.)

    Language: Blog posts in this category should primarily invite reading and be highly informative.

    Citing: For posts that require citations: source references in the form of footnotes, with a consistent format being preferred.

Ars Iuris Academia

  • Extent: A complete blog post includes the post itself, a title, and, if possible, one or more images:

    • Title length: max ~ 80 characters including spaces (but preferably shorter)
    • Length of the blog post: 3,000 - 10,000 characters, ideally 2-3 pages
      (The length of the texts may vary from topic to topic; complex topics naturally require more text, even though a blog entry should generally be concise.)

    Language: Blog posts, especially on current research topics, should meet academic standards and be well-founded, informative, and inviting to read.

    Citing: For posts that require citations: source references in the form of footnotes, with a consistent format being preferred.
